Now explain to me how this spidersilk has a profound affect on Earthbenders? Is the effect, " They not only prevent damage from the user's hands, but they also prevent pain." ?

If so does that mean it wouldn't work if another type of bender or nonebender wore it?

For the latter, yes.

And for the previous, it's a pair of gloves that are made at the Metal Bender's Academy. It's made from some workings of Alchemists at the Academy. They... Well, I don't know how to put it without sounding redundant. They're enchanted?

Even though there are spirits and things in this world I don't feel enchantments really suit the theme of this universe.

And even then gloves wouldn't be able to stop all damage and all pain (all pain less so because if you can still take damage whether you feel it or not is not as important) because that'd be overpowered.

However, you can say that the spidersilk has special properties that other spidersilk doesn't have that make it more resilient and tough while keeping it fairly maneuverable opposed to metal gloves but you would have to define how much damage they could prevent.

Strong as in they'll hurt the same way when hit or strong as in durable as them? Or is it both?
